Divine Grace is a Kingdom ministry and enterprise founded by Pastor Olabisi, senior pastor and founder of Freedom House International Ministries UK. The vision for Divine Grace came about following a personal experience Pastor Olabisi had in her attempt to publish her first Christian book. Pastor Olabisi began her publishing journey by first attempting to get her book published by traditional Christian book publishers. However, it wasn’t long in her search for a traditional publisher before she discovered it is easier to find one missing pearl in the middle of the ocean, than finding a traditional book publisher willing to publish an unknown author. She learned that the interest is not so much in her godly inspired text but in who she is. Being a first-time unknown author, the verdict she received from all the traditional book publishers she managed to contact was highly unanimous: “No thank you, we are not interested” for the obvious reasons that she is not already a famous author with huge moneymaking potentials. If the market is primarily moneymaking oriented, then it cannot be Spirit led which explains why there are so many books available from authors that fit the moneymaking criteria labelled as ‘Christian Books’, even though they lack Holy Spirit inspired spiritual Christian content, and as such are void of soul uplifting potentials.
Following a stream of rejection letters, Pastor Olabisi decided to take charge and press forward determined to self-publish her Christian book. However, in her search for a self-publishing company she found that although many are targeting Christian authors, the vast majority of advertised Christian publishing companies are not owned and managed by genuine believers. As a result, they are not in a position to provide Christian authors with the all-important Christian guidance and support necessary to achieve professional results necessary for their book to stand out in the Christian book market.
She discovered the asking price by some of the self-publishing companies, just for turning text alone into a book to be on the high side. Similarly, Pastor Olabisi found that the general pricing for all other added ‘extras’ such as proofreading, editing and custom book covers all necessary to achieve professional results also to be somehow high; and not easily affordable by most Christian authors. More often than not, Christian authors have no choice but to undertake serious financial sacrifices when self-sponsoring the publication of their books intended for the glory of God.
Due to affordability problems, the end-product result for most self-published Christian books is a book lacking all the professional touches and presentation qualities necessary to effectively compete in the Christian book market. Therefore, even though the book may contain powerful soul-deliverance contents, it could end up lying solo in a junk-book pile, instead of in the joyful hands of a Christ follower or potential Christ follower as intended by the author.
Judging from her own publishing odyssey, Pastor Olabisi came to realize that there is a great need for a Christian self-publishing company that is not only run by Kingdom-minded Christians, but also entirely dedicated to producing Christian books from Spirit-led Christian authors at an affordable rate.
